How did you get started doing this type of work?
Every summer since 2010, I have worked alongside Dan The Radon Man in Kansas City, MO.

What types of customers have you worked with?
I work with Builders, Home Owners and Real Estate Agents.

How do I know if I’m really at risk?
What was your Radon level? If it is higher than 4 picocuris per liter (pCi/L) the EPA recommends mitigation.
Outside air has .4 pCi/L of Radon gas all the time.

Ben, why do I have to have this Radon crap done to my house? It’s BS right?!
Unfortunately, Radon is real. Radon’s atomic number is 86. You can’t see, smell, or taste Radon.
Your home is sitting on uranium, T 92 or Thorium, U 90.
These are both radioactive chemicals in the soil beneath your home.

Why does my house have Radon?
Because your house sucks! Homes are partial vacuums. When your doors and windows are shut consistently
and your air conditioner or heater is operating or you have clothes in the dryer, you will be sucking in air
from everywhere including from under the subfloor-the main source of Radon entry.

When is the best time to test?

Fair weather is best to test for Radon. Testing during a rain storm can alter the results of your test.
The water from the storm can push Radon gas through the soil into your home.

How do I fix this?

You need a high powered fan to suck out the Radon.

Where do you put the fan?

Most times the fan can easily be installed outside, with PVC pipe extending 10’ off the ground
or 10’ away from (opening) windows or past the roof line.

Where do you put the pipe in the floor?

The age of the house and layout will generally determine the placement of the pipe into the floor.
Houses that are older generally need a hole directly into the slab. More modern homes have sump pits
with conjoining perforated pipes. They are an excellent entry point due to the air flow around the subfloor.

How long does the mitigation take to install?

It depends on the layout of the home, but I can get the job done in 3-4 hours.

Do you retest?

Yes, I will set out a test canister and come back in 3 days to seal and mail it to Accustar Labs test facility.

What if my Radon level isn’t low enough?

I guarantee every job that I do. I will get your level below 4 pCi/L. If a retest comes back too high,
I will install a larger fan and/or add multiple entry points to your subfloor/crawl space. at no extra cost to you
